COVID 19 update

March 17, 2020

Dear Families and Staff,
The purpose of this letter is to provide you with as much clarity as we can now about the impact of COVID- 19 on our schools. Circumstances with COVID-19 are changing daily and sometimes hourly.
In-Class Instruction.

This afternoon, the Ministry of Education directed all schools to immediately suspend in-class instruction until further notice. We have been actively preparing for the possibility of an end to in-class instruction and exploring solutions to support the continuity of learning for students when the official Spring Break is over on March 30.

While we don’t have all the answers at this point, I can assure you that we are working hard to find solutions.

Timely and Factual Information
We appreciate that you likely have many questions. As we know more, we’ll continue to share information with you and post the latest information on our website:

Social Distancing and Prevention
The Provincial Health Officer declared a public health emergency today. Dr. Bonnie Henry continues to call for social distancing – keeping about two metres from each other to reduce the risk of making one another sick. Dr. Henry also advises to continue to: wash your hands, avoid touching your face, cough or sneeze into your elbow or sleeve, and stay home if you are sick. Each of us can prevent the spread of COVID-19.

Supporting Each Other
I would like to extend sincere thanks to all those who have so generously offered their support and assistance during these very difficult times. As we seem to be facing new challenges each day, what has not changed is the resolve and strength of our community. We will indeed get through these uncertain times, together.

With warm wishes,
Gina Niccoli-Moen, Superintendent
