Greetings Second Street Community!
I hope this message finds you well! As we prepare for another busy year of learning, growth, and fun at Second Street, I just wanted to take a moment to introduce myself and to express my excitement and heartfelt enthusiasm to be joining this extraordinary community. I have heard so much about the beauty, energy, and passion of this place and can’t wait to contribute to this wonderful spirit.
I really look forward to meeting you and your children, to hearing your stories, and to learning about your hopes and dreams for your children. Please stop me and say hello if you see me around the school, or drop by the office to chat. I’m always excited to hear your ideas about how we can together make the learning experiences of your children engaging, positive, and memorable, and I am eager to work alongside you and our amazing staff to make this a reality.
We have a long history here at Second Street, and I’m excited to get to be a part of it with you!
As we turn our attention to next Tuesday and our first day of school I just want to remind you of a couple of things.
- Tuesday the 3rd of September is our first day back in the building. Students are only in for one hour (8:45 first bell – 10:00 dismissal), and will return to their last year’s classrooms and teachers.
- Students who are new to Second Street will be greeted in the courtyard area and will spend the first hour getting a tour of the building and connecting with some of our staff before being placed in a class for the rest of the week.
- Wednesday to Friday will follow the regular schedule (8:45 first bell – 2:48 Dismissal) with students continuing in their last year’s class. Teachers will inform students about any supplies required for the first week on Tuesday when they are in for the hour.
- Kindergarten families will be having welcome interviews Tuesday and Wednesday, with Gradual Entry starting on Thursday. Please refer to the packages given out in May/June for information about Gradual Entry and Welcome Interviews. If you have any questions about the schedules please do not hesitate to give us a call at the school!
While certainly exciting, the start of a new school year can often be an anxious time for students and families, so please reach out to me if there is anything I can do to be of help. I look forward to seeing you all next week!
All the best,
Mr. Bryan Tesan
Principal
