Emergency response practice week

Dear Parents and Guardians,

During the week of November 5 – 9 we will be reviewing and practicing our Emergency Response Drills. Over the course of this week, we will be doing 3 Emergency Drills to ensure the students and staff are prepared in case of an emergency.

We will be doing the following drills:

Shelter in Place Drill (Outdoor Safety Hazard such as wild animal, extreme weather, toxic spill)

Hold and Secure Drill (neighbourhood security concern)

Lockdown Drill (threat in the building).

These drills are not meant to alarm the children and the teachers are aware of the days and times of the drills.  It is good to discuss them with your children when they come home.

We recognize our responsibility to ensure student safety at school and practicing these types of drills allow us to reflect and improve our practices.  As always, feel free to contact me if you have any questions about the drills and our school’s Emergency Response.
