upcoming events and opportunities

A Note from the Community Office about some upcoming events and opportunities:

  • We still have space in our wonderful “Summer Fun”Camp here at Second Street. Most weeks still have a few spots available so come to the Community office, or the Kidslink portables, to get more information.
  • Did you know Summer School is FREE! It is! There are several classes that are available right at Second Street this year. The classes are from 9:00am to 12:15pm and run from July 9th to 26th. To register, go to burnabyschools.ca and click on the “Summer Session information” box on the right. It’s so easy. You need your child’s PEN number to register. It can be found on the left hand corner of your child’s report card.
  • The 10thAnnual Community Bike Fair is coming this Friday, June 15th from 6:00 – 9:00 on Second Street’s field. Bring the family, buy food at the concession, learn about bike safety, enter a raffle to win a bike, see a bike show, ride through an obstacle course, and MORE!
  • Continue to keep kids reading all though summer! The Summer Reading Club is starting again and registration begins this Friday. Go to any branch of the Public Library to register. Children need to read 15 minutes a day, for at least 50 days during the summer, and then they get a medal at a special ceremony at the library! Go to www.bpl.ca/kids for more information.

Follow us on Twitter! It’s a fun way to see some of the cool things that happen at school! We are @secondstSD41. Also, remember that we have CommuniTEA Times on Thursdays from 9:00 – 10:30 in the Community Room. Two more left this year! Come on in and have a coffee and a chat. Everyone is welcome!
