News Archive National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women Posted by secondstreetadmin December 6, 2019 You may notice that our flag is flying at half staff today today, Friday, December 6, in observance of the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women. This is the 30th anniversary of the Ecole Polytechnique massacre. The National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence against Women is about honouring those who have experienced gender-based violence; it is also a time to take action. December 6 falls within the 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence and this year’s campaign #OurActionsMatter calls on each of us to share the concrete actions we are taking in our own communities and in our own lives to question, call out, and speak up against acts of gender-based violence. We all have a role to play in creating a culture of respect and taking meaningful action to ensure that tragedies like l’École Polytechnique de Montréal never happen again. Please take a few minutes to speak with your families about the importance of treating all people with respect and dignity.
