Since 1928 the School District has offered Community & Continuing Education programs that evolve to meet the learning needs and interests of the community. Most of our students are from Burnaby but many come from all over Metro Vancouver.
Educational areas include:
- High School Completion
- Literacy Foundations
- Vocational Certificates and Diplomas
- Community Interest Courses
Burnaby offers one of the largest school district run Continuing Education programs in the province. It supports the educational needs of a variety of adult learners including new immigrants; the unemployed, the underemployed; highschool graduates eager to train for a career, and those simply interested in learning something new.
Courses are offered during the day, evening and weekends. The adult students represent almost every walk of life and every ethnic group in Burnaby’s cultural mosaic. And so do the instructors. More than 500 medical experts, business consultants, computer technicians, lawyers, human relations experts, entrepreneurs, contractors, and horticulturists form a flexible network of instructors.
Programs/courses begin in the Fall or Winter/Spring. Printed brochures providing course and program information are distributed to the community in Burnaby mid August and December. Brochures are also available at Burnaby’s public libraries, recreation centres and online.
